Europa Universalis: Rome - Vae Victis features Monarchies and Tribes with their own courts, completely revised military AI, particularly in the area of military campaigns, and an overhauled interface making the information more easily accessible for both new and advanced players.


Paradox Interactive is proud to announce that Vae Victis, the eagerly anticipated expansion to the critically acclaimed grand strategy game Europa Universalis: Rome, is being released today.

Set during the golden age of the Roman Republic when the Senate ruled the Empire, Vae Victis features a large amount of new content and improvements to the already exciting game play of Europa Universalis: Rome. Key changes include modifications to the forms of government to create more fluid and balanced game play, significant overhaul of the cast of historical characters across a variety of areas and the addition of missions, decisions and laws.

Key new features in Vae Victis:
° New additions and improvements to all three government forms - Republic, Monarch and Tribal.
° Central historical characters now have their own individual ambitions. Players can choose to help these historical figures, by promoting and awarding titles, or hinder them, with the abilities to imprison, banish, and execute.
° An improved and streamlined user interface and a new character overview screens reduce the need for micromanagement. In addition, in-game governors are now charge of whole regions, making them more powerful and freeing up the player focus elsewhere.
° New Mission feature rewards players for completed missions. Different missions will be available depending on the form of government chosen.
° New Decision feature gives the players the ability to trigger a variety of events, such changing the government type from a Republic to a Dictatorship, at their discretion instead of automatically by the game.
° Completely revamped military AI provides a more challenging gaming experience.
