Welcome to Ogre Island. The story of the game is more of a collection of small tales. As you play the game you will learn more of the island and its gods. For there are many gods on the island, some you will meet, other will remain a mystery to all of creation. So it goes.

Nueth, the god of the upper world and Thak, the god of the underworld both saw the beauty of the island. They saw promise in its soil. They both knew the island would be a wonderful place to call home, for there was no other like it in the universe. Nueth and Thak were both gods of creation. Each one possessed the ability to give life and to take it. Nueth possessed the ability to create creatures of goodwill. Thak knew only to create creatures of malice.

The two gods desired the island for themselves. Gods are immortal however; fighting one another for control of the island would be a waste of their time and energy. The fragile untouched island would never sustain a battle of two gods. Thus Nueth and Thak came to an agreement. They would both reside on the island. Nueth would rule the lands above the earth and Thak would rule the underworld.

Their agreement worked, and life on the island flourished for a number of centuries, but the Gods grew bored with their share of island. They frequently irritated each other; they would call each other names. Thak would cause massive earthquakes, Nueth would send lightning storms and floods into the caves of the underworld. The gods caused so much turmoil on the island while fighting each other that nearby gods took notice of the island.

As more and more lesser gods took notice of the island, its secret soon became revealed to all gods. Soon they all wanted to have a piece of the island. As a consequence, Nueth and Thak decided to have a competition. The gods of Goodwill and the gods of Malice would have a competition for the ultimate control of the island. Each god would be able to influence the island by giving birth to creatures. These creatures would be left to their own devices, and in the end, the creatures would either choose to worship Nueth or Thak on their own free will. The god to win the most praise from the island's collective life force would become the ruler of it. The other god would move on to some lesser place in the universe never to return. All of the gods were in agreement and the competition began.

Whether the legend is true or not, this is where it leaves off and your adventure begins, for there are many creatures living on the island today. Some of these creatures are good, and some of them are bad. Regardless of how you play the game, the gods are real, and they will help you on your adventure when you need them. All players are capable of making change in the game. Ogre Island runs in real-time, and the island gods can change anything, at any time, for any reasons. This is part of what makes the game so much fun. So what are you waiting for?
